Why didn’t I get today’s step?
Check that notifications are allowed for GenTask in your phone’s settings and that Step notifications are on in GenTask. On Android, battery savers can delay notifications. Add GenTask to the exceptions.
Steps arrive as notifications at the times in your plan. If one didn’t come, check these in order.
1. Notifications are allowed
- iPhone: Settings → Notifications → GenTask → turn on Allow Notifications.
- Android: Settings → Apps → GenTask → Notifications → turn them on, including the step channels.
2. Step notifications are on in GenTask
Open Settings in GenTask and check that Step notifications is on. If you turned on Also hold my own reminders, steps that fall inside your quiet hours wait until the quiet hours end.
3. Battery savers aren’t holding GenTask back (Android)
Some phones pause apps in the background to save battery. Open Settings → Battery and set GenTask to Unrestricted or add it to the exceptions. The exact name depends on the phone maker.
4. Focus or Do Not Disturb is off
Focus modes on iPhone and Do Not Disturb on Android hide notifications. Allow GenTask in the mode you use.
